Happy Tuesday, everyone! This week’s versatile vixen is club soda. Carbonated water is a great addition to any bar. Its mild flavour is agreeable for most guests and its clear tone with your sofa, in case of spills. Here are a few more inventive uses that will have you reaching for this hostess favourite beyond the next cocktail party.

1. Rust buster: As the weather warms up, we’re slowly reclaiming our outdoor spaces. Often, there’s winter damage to be undone. If you’re struggling with a rusted nut or bolt (on your bike or gate door, for example), a splash of club soda will help loosen it.

2. Pancake upgrader: Take your pancakes to the next level by substituting the liquid the recipe calls for with club soda. Those hot cakes will be the fluffiest you’ve ever made. Works for waffles, too!

3. Stain fighter: The bubbles in carbonated water help lift spills from carpeting. Remove urine stains – and odour – by first blotting out as much of the liquid as possible; then, apply club soda on the area and immediately blot again. For oil-based splatters, do the same, rubbing vigorously if necessary.
